In 1987 Founder David Sheflin saw the need to provide a service to the Willamette Valley. He formed a small company in the Mohawk Valley and named it Mohawk Metal Company. Through devotion to his customer base, dedication to customer service and an understanding of the importance for quality products he grew the company and moved it to Walterville Oregon to a larger facility ten years later.

To better serve the existing customers and to offer his services to a more diverse customer base in 2007 David brought in a partner and moved the business to Eugene, Oregon where the headquarters now reside. Mohawk Metal Company began the vertical integration process by investing in state of the art capital equipment to support the needs of the expanding customer base.

In early 2009 Mohawk Metal Company announced the opening of the Steel Structures Division. This division offered support for large and complex steel projects including the installation of the fabricated steel. This turned Mohawk Metal Company into the solution customers were looking for. Whatever the steel needs were, Mohawk Metal Company was prepared to support it with the same service and quality that the company was founded on.

Mohawk Metal Company now supports over a dozen different industries and employs experts to support each industry. These include Retail Displays, Wood Processing, Gypsum Processing, Hearth Products, Site Furnishings, Commercial and Residential Construction, Power Distribution and Transmission, Wind Generation, Marine Services, Road Construction, Bridge Manufacturing, Steel Service Centers and Rapid Transit.
